What is Life on Dorm
Really Like?

One of the most unique aspects about Woodberry is that we are 100% boarding. Any student that attends Woodberry, lives here. So what does that mean for the boys who live here. Click this link to hear from Luke Stone ’20 about the true realities of living on dorm.

Reflections from a Dorm Parent

For most parents, the scariest part about boarding school is the actual boarding. Parents wonder, “What will my son be doing at night?” and “Who will be taking care of him?” As you consider Woodberry, read the reflections from one of our long-term dorm parents.

What Does Dorm Look
Like to a Past Student?

"As a student, living in a dorm is like a year-round sleepover at your friend's house. Living in a dorm is an experience that builds friendships that last a lifetime. Seeing your closest friends every night and spending time in their room is usually the highlight of most of the boys' day.

As a new student, living on dorm makes it easier to meet friends and bond with your classmates because you'll spend time on dorm studying, watching movies, and playing video games together.

Living on dorm also connects you with teachers around campus. During times like study hall, teachers will walk around dorm, and this is a great chance to bond with them outside the classroom.

Lastly, living on dorm helps students grow and mature individually because students are responsible for waking up, cleaning their rooms, and doing laundry all on their own. This allows most students to become self-sufficient in most aspects.

Living on dorm becomes a home away from home because your friends, classmates, and roommates become your brothers. "

What is a Dorm Head?

What is a dorm head? A Dorm Head is a faculty member who lives on dorm. This means that year round this faculty member lives in an apartment off of the dorm hall and is in charge of the floor that they live on. Hear more from our residential faculty in recording below.

What Does Dorm Look
Like to Faculty?

"Life on dorm is a ball of energy, mixed with fun, tension, ups and downs, and the camaraderie that one would find with a group of teenage boys who live together.

Whether it's the nervousness of preparing for your first pep rally, studying (and stressing) for a big Physics exam with your fellow hallmates, putting on your "clothes" for your first bonfire (Beat EHS!), or trying to cram 15 boys in a 2-bed dorm room to watch a movie on a laptop, there's nothing that quite compares to living in the ac-less Turner and Taylor. "
